On a sunny and humid mid-day last July 18, a simple blessing ceremony brought to life MAPFRE Insular Iloilo’s spanking and spacious new branch office. This most recent office address is strategically located at the Rosary building along Iznart street in Iloilo City beside the landmark YMCA edifice.

The momentous company branch event was aptly graced by VIPs from Manila head office led by Javier Warleta, President and Chief Executive Officer, and Benny Parungo Jr., First Vice President for Branch Operations. Arrangement for the affair was a joint cooperation by the powerhouse tandem of lovely local managers, Anne Palomares of MCO, and Mae Ferraris-Combronero of MSO.

Encased in a facade of glass, the establishment closely resembles a bank than an office yet the similarity ends at the sight of hallmark colors of MAPFRE, a Fortune Top Global 500 company. The Iloilo branch office is said to be one of the company’s biggest offices outside Metro Manila with spacious interiors housing the reception area, conference area and workspaces. It’s comparatively five times bigger in size than the former office in Molo.

A bevy of local guests comprised of business partners, marketing professionals, executives from top car brand dealerships, guests and the press. There were familiar faces in the crowd like Mr. Boy Ang of Nissan, Hyundai and Suzuki dealerships; a representative from Izuzu Iloilo and other car brand dealers.

Ker & Company, a business intermediary, was represented by Roger Aguilar, Branch Manager, and associate Juliet Jerusalem. Top local MAPFRE Insular insurance consultants were also in attendance like Rosalinda “Rose” Jauod, Vicente “Toto” Yap Jr., Joemarie Moriente, Lina Gustilo, Merlyn Bonghanoy and others, including this writer. Christian Andaya, Manager of Honda Cars Iloilo and former branch manager of MAPFRE Insular Iloilo, was also among the guests.

The press was represented by a writer and marketing executive from Panay News.

A reorganization driven by commitment to improve services

The vestiges of a reorganization were immediately apparent, reinforced by the newly furnished premises. If you have taken note, I mentioned not one but two managers. In fact, MAPFRE Insular has two heads in the branch office, one for MCO and one for MSO.

The concept of this reorganization, according to President and CEO Javier Waleta, was to drive the company’s commitment to improve services, improve the business atmosphere and deliver customer satisfaction.

He summed it up with the new tagline, People who take care of People.
